Morning Devotions

We have morning devotions as a group on Monday-Thursday mornings for about half an hour. Students will receive a devotional booklet that they will go through and journal in throughout the week. The devotional will have follow-up questions that leaders may use for the evening debriefing sessions.

The morning sessions are led by New City Fellowship staff and are vignettes of Sonship teaching and its application (one of the core Biblical teachings that God has adopted us into His family through Jesus Christ and sealed us in Him by His Spirit). During the devotional time we will sing (bring your own music and instruments)!, pray (corporately and individually), listen to each other, and journal.

The Buildings

Gym Building
This is where New City Fellowship holds worship services and all adult and youth Sunday School programs. The gym is, of course, used as a gym throughout the week. The only area of this building that you will have access to is the gym itself, which will be available for recreational use after 3:30 during the weekdays.

Cafeteria Building
This large building houses The Freedom School and the kitchen and dining areas as well as overflow dormitory space for visitors. You will be enjoying your meals in the spacious dining area of the Cafeteria building on the first floor. Note: The kitchen is off limits to visitors at all times!

Administration Building
This is where you will be staying during your time here. We have adapted the dormitory space for housing short-term visitors with some areas also set aside for lounging and recreation. You will have access to the first floor for meetings and recreation and the second floor for sleeping and quiet study.

Women
Large room on the southeast end of the 2nd floor; there is a large bathroom between the rooms

Men
Large room on the southwest end of the 2nd floor; bathroom at top of south stairwell; extra showers on the 3rd floor

The women's area is off-limits to men and vice-versa!

Any areas of the buildings not mentioned previously are to be considered off-limits at all times.

Parking

Please park your vehicles in the northernmost parking lot, NOT in the circular drive west of the Administration building.

Building Safety

In case of FIRE:
Exit out of your sleeping areas and directly down the stairs and out. Men, you can also go down the fire escape out of your dorm room in the southwest corner.

In case of a TORNADO:,br /> Take either the north or south stairwell immediately to the basement central hallway.

Security

We have not had any problems to date (except with stolen bikes), but play it smart. Doors are locked after 11:00, but your leader will have a key if you need to go out. Check with your leaders before leaving the property, especially after dark, and then go only in groups or two or more.

Meals

Breakfast
Continental style in the front room of the Cafeteria building, with 1 or 2 people designated as kitchen helpers to lay out refrigerated items

Lunch
Made at breakfast and carried to the work sites use plastic crates

Dinner
Buffet style in the main dining area

The kitchen is off-limits at all times.

Snacks

You may feel free to stock the refrigerator in the recreation room on the north end of the 1st floor in the Administration building with snacks which you supply. The following stores and restaurants are close by:

Cleanup

We will divide you into teams with one team responsible each day for picking up after breakfast, wiping off tables, and sweeping the floor in the breakfast room. Likewise, after supper, tables need to be wiped off and the floor of the cafeteria swept and mopped. Tables are to be wiped with a soap solution that includes a small bit of bleach. Mops and buckets are located in the janitor's closet near the kitchen.

Telephone

There is NOT a telephone on campus for you to use. We ask that you use personal cell phones to make calls and to communicate with each other throughout the week.

"Is not this the kind of fasting I have chosen: to loose the chains of injustice and untie the cords of the yoke, to set the oppressed free and break every yoke? Is it not to share your food with the hungry and to provide the poor wanderer with shelter- when you see the naked, to clothe him, and not to turn away from your own flesh and blood? Then your light will break forth like the dawn, and your healing will quickly appear; then your righteousness will go before you, and the glory of the LORD will be your rear guard. Then you will call, and the LORD will answer; you will cry for help, and he will say: Here am I."

Isaiah 58:6-9
