“… and if you spend yourselves in behalf of the hungry, and satisfy the needs of the oppressed, then your light will rise in the darkness, and your night will become like the noonday.” Isaiah 58:10

Umetulisha (a Swahili term meaning “you have fed us”) is a food ministry which provides no- to low-cost nutritious food services for a variety of Restore St. Louis ministries including The Freedom School, Firm Foundation Tutoring, and Harambee Summer Youth Training Program. Our first ministry partner was The Freedom School in 2013. Since that time, the Lord has provisioned and greatly expanded the scope of Umetulisha’s abilities to provide food for the hungry – particularly at-risk children and youth. Umetulisha has been blessed with the opportunity to partner with approximately a dozen child and youth centered ministries in the metro St. Louis area to ensure that these children are fed – both in body and spirit! Because of these partnerships, over 1,500 children and youth participating in gospel-based programs are fed over 250,000 nutritious, healthy meals on an annual basis.

Vision and Purpose

Umetulisha seeks to provide opportunities for the Church to share their food with the hungry by mobilizing volunteers to help prepare and serve healthy meals, and in this way manifest the provisional love of Christ to those in need. Umetulisha seeks to meet the nutritional needs of children who are taking part in children’s ministry activities around St. Louis.
